Bricktown Brewery & Adelaide Hall

The Adelaide Hall building at 318 Garrison Avenue has been a fixture of downtown Fort Smith since 1871, when it was built by future Arkansas governor William Meade Fishback and named for his wife. For more than a century it served as the social heart of the city, and most recently as home to Bricktown Brewery — until a fire in November 2024 destroyed the structure entirely.

Chasen Garrett Architects is leading the design of its replacement at the same address. The new two-story building closely follows the original facade at the owner’s direction, preserving the character of one of Garrison Avenue’s most storied addresses. Reclaimed brick from the original structure is incorporated into the new construction, maintaining a material continuity with the building’s 150-year history. The primary design intervention is a reimagined entry sequence that creates a more direct and welcoming arrival from Garrison Avenue. Construction is currently underway.
